Medical, dental, and 401k benefits are excellent.
Employees have the ability to reinvent themselves by switching teams. They can take on international assignments or stretch assignments, which involves temporarily working in a new position. This gives the employee the chance to "try on" the job to see if it's a good fit, without fully committing to it.
It's extremely hard to break into management. I've been identified as having leadership qualities, and I've taken the required leadership courses. I've expressed my desire to manage and taken on more responsibilities. I have excellent performance reviews. But with the constant management shuffle above me, there's no one to champion for me. Mentorship is basically nonexistent.
If you identify someone as management material and ask them to take the leadership course, please follow through with them. It's not fair to leave it to the constantly shuffling middle management team. I suggest HR involvement at some level.
Paper test 1st Interview (team leader or team member) 2nd Interview (reporting manager) Final Interview (executive)
Phone call interview with HR, followed by interviews with engineers and the manager.
I didn't have a process because I looked for opportunities at university courses and then started a scholarship.
