Pros

You can potentially work on a wide variety of projects. Decent benefits. Flexibility to work from home.

Cons
  • You're expected to be on call 24/7.
  • Software and hardware development jobs are continually moved offshore.
  • Planners are more valued than workers.
  • If you're good at your job, your manager tries to keep you forever.
Advice to Management
  • Get rid of at least 50% of the management chain.
  • When a manager is rated poorly by their employees, fire them, don't promote them.
  • Focus on raising revenue instead of cutting costs.
  • If you're going to have a layoff, have a press release.
