Being assigned to the client, you are entirely at their mercy. Your manager is only for IBM process issues; they have no influence on the projects. Your manager is usually the account manager for the client where you are, which means that if you don't like the opportunity, the chances of a relocation are practically zero. Just accept it, it hurts less. It was the worst decision I made this year, but life is made of choices. Sometimes we get it right, sometimes we get it wrong.
