Pros
  • Great Products
  • Great Work/Life balance (nobody cares about you, so it has its own advantages)
Cons
  • The Dublin IBM office is not a good place to work.
  • If you want to work for IBM on the business side (sales or tech sales), you need to be in-country (Germany, UK, France...).
  • There is no investment in resources; they prefer to let you go than increase salaries. It is a cost center; revenues are attached to the country.
  • Managers have very poor skills (for the same reasons as above, the Dublin office does not have any attention; it is the poor parent of IBM compared to in-country offices).
  • I even had my manager making racial comments (on my nationality).
  • There are no benefits; you have to pay for your private health insurance, there is no food or coffee, and it is very far from the city.
Advice to Management

Look at what Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn... are doing in Dublin.

They invest on their teams and offices.
