Pros

There are great educational programs in leadership, coaching, and technical development.

There are really smart people working in the company.

When you're working with great people, they are the reason you stay.

In some roles, you have the ability to shape the role and try out new things that excite you.

Cons
  • Salary is below average for the industry. The only way to get on a good salary is through negotiation at hire and after that through promotion of band.

  • Very much the in-crowd has the power, locking everyone else out.

  • Management takes a view of people being able to switch from one technology stack to another without any thought given to the skills people have been building in cutting-edge areas that are very beneficial to the company.

  • Senior leaders are not able to stand up and have the difficult conversations and truly transform the company. They are too scared, even when all of their team are telling them what needs to be said.

  • There are so many times there are "elephants in the room" scenarios and management does not tackle them. There is a serious lack of leadership.

  • Management expects employees to have no lives and work crazy hours, time and time again.

  • Nothing is being done around mental health and employee well-being. Employees are just meant to deal with their issues without any help, even when it's called for.

  • Executives come out with big initiatives without any care for how it's done, causing their teams so much stress on how to execute. There is no vision.

  • There is no long-term planning and trying to see what's coming down the line.

  • The company is very bureaucratic, making it very difficult to get things done.

  • It's very difficult to make big changes; there is pushback at every turn.

  • It's difficult to have the autonomy to drive things forward.

Advice to Management

A true vision is needed. Blindly following a leader is not the way forward. Instead, people need to be able to build their careers and skills so that they become the best in the field.

At the moment, with crazy deadlines after crazy deadlines, you are burning people out, all being led by Arvind. Crazy deadlines come with many costs. Some of these costs are burning your people and not being able to truly transform the company, as you are not building towards a big picture.

You have management that are afraid to say the truth. So, as messages of what's happening on the ground go up through the management chain, they get watered down at each level, so that everything appears to be rosy in the garden. This is creating a toxic culture that has fear at its heart.
