Pros

Flexible work schedules and pay have improved due to competition. Management is becoming more flexible in promoting younger engineers faster when warranted.

Cons

Still too many project managers and HR managers with no technical skills managing engineers' careers.

Advice to Management

They should require HR managers to be very technical and have fewer meetings, or at least meetings with published agendas in advance. Some older workers still don't know how to use modern tools like Box correctly.
