Pros

Very good work-life balance, and good resources for self-learning and improving.

Cons
  1. Very low compensation package compared to the market in my current position and YoE.

  2. Every other company gives RSUs as an integral part of compensation. I have been with IBM for 6 years and have no stocks.

  3. Limited opportunities for personal career progress and promotions. I have had very good performance ratings over the years, but I don't feel I am where I am supposed to be in terms of career progress. Also, the salary increase rate is very low. In my 6 years at IBM, my salary has only increased by 30% compared to my beginning entry-level salary.

  4. No resources. I have been a tech lead for 2 years and only have 1 other member in my team who is both a developer and a tester. It is an important product for WHI that is highly undervalued and not getting the right resources. This results in challenges delivering high-quality and robust versions.

  5. Good talent resources are scarce. Perhaps for the reasons above, I find it rare that I encounter quality talent at IBM. Several employees I work with are under-qualified for the particular jobs they are assigned to do.
