Great technical experience
If you get on the right project, IBM can be a great place to work and develop. Generally, you have a lot of freedom to work how and where you want, and there are lots of smart engineers in the company. When I was there, it was a good place to start your career.
The problem is continuing your career. Depending on location, opportunities to progress are likely to be limited, or none. You can move projects, but forget promotion.
Senior management seemed to be more occupied with share options than genuinely growing the company, though I believe this has now changed.
