Pros
  • Work-life balance
  • IBM ISL (India Software Labs) compensation is better than its other business units.
Cons
  • Slow career growth.
  • Even ISL salaries are better than other business units, but they are less than their competitors.
  • Management plays politics very well with your career. As long as you listen to management, you will be fine; otherwise, you won't.
  • Management won't encourage career changes, even though there are many emails we get for career guidance and change for name's sake.
  • Three-month notice period, which ties many people, like in many organizations in India.
Advice to Management
  • Don't play politics and games with the careers of employees.
  • HR is a toy controlled by management, but has no control yet. The HR department needs to be strong enough to help both employees and management, not just management.
