Pros
  • Great 1st line managers.
  • A few nice staff members (in rare cases).
  • Cognitive Computing is somewhat exciting.
Cons
  • Bottom feeder team leads
  • Personally witnessed sexism, racism, and favoritism
  • Old business practices
  • "Agile" focus that ends up being more like a poorly-executed version of Waterfall
  • Little room for advancement
  • Sales teams affect your team (even if there is a lack of communication between production and sales)
Advice to Management
  • Hire new employees who bring in NEW ideas.
  • Lay off all of the "good ole boy" club.
  • Lay off all of the wacky "know-it-alls" who are experts at obsolete code.
  • 2nd/3rd line managers are clueless to what's going on.
  • Some of the 2nd lines should lighten the load for 1st line managers.
  • Listen to ALL members of the team.
  • Learn how to promote the people who are actually working harder than the people who are good at talking the loudest.
