A decent salary and benefits, compared to other available jobs in the area, are the only reasons I can think of that might justify working at IBM nowadays.
IBM has lost all respect for its employees. After working there for almost 36 years and always getting reviews ranging from "always far exceeds requirements" to "always exceeds requirements," I was suddenly told I was underperforming and was let go! It just so happens that there were 3 of us doing the job, and I was the one with the most years (translation: "highest paid"). It's just all about the bottom line now, with no more concern for the employees at all!
Sometimes the bottom line isn't all that matters. When did IBM become a company that is motivated by nothing but greed?
Why don't you lead the world in getting back to what should really matter: a balance of profit and respect for the individual?
How can you sleep at night when you ruin people's lives but continue to take such large compensation yourselves?
