Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

The interview process started with a standard recruiter call. The offered salary was lower than I had hoped for, less than my current compensation, but I was willing to proceed if the team and position were a good fit. The recruiter's conversation was typical, covering salary, company information, and a brief review of my experience.

Next, I moved on to the technical screen with two other engineers. This was arguably one of the most low-effort and awkward interviews I have experienced. After a brief 30-second introduction, we immediately began the coding portion. This was a take-home problem that I was expected to complete independently. The interviewers stepped away, allowing me to work on the problem for over an hour, which I actually enjoyed. However, the interview itself felt awkward. The two engineers appeared completely uninterested in me, my experience, and the interview overall.

It has now been a few weeks, and I have been ghosted without any follow-up. I would not recommend wasting time interviewing here again.
