I applied through an employee referral. I had two technical rounds, passed both, and was offered an internship at Intel (Bangalore, India) on the same day as my interviews.
However, after one to two weeks, I received an email from HR stating they could not consider my application because my current university is not preferred by Intel. Seriously? Intel, are you looking for talent or selecting students based solely on their university's name?
I attempted to contact the Intel HR department in Bangalore, India, but they were unresponsive and unprofessional. None of them replied to me on LinkedIn. It is genuinely disappointing to see such a large company operating unprofessionally. They should have conducted a background check of my university before scheduling my interview. It makes no sense to interview a candidate only to reject them based on their university affiliation. The interview process wasted both my time and the interviewer's time.
