Pros

Pay is okay, but even poor workers who refuse to do their jobs, thus forcing you to do it along with your own work, still get paid more or the same as you.

Opportunity to travel, if you don't mind relocating at 2 weeks or less notice to anywhere there is a site, but not sure for how long, depending on business needs.

Cons

Good, reliable employees are not recognized or valued. In fact, the opposite; they are taken for granted.

The job is tedious and monotonous, with no scope for imagination or creative thinking. Yes, certainly, you may carry out a project you are interested in that may save the company millions, but you will do it on your own time, after you have done all your assigned duties, with no extra pay. You will forfeit any lunch break, and someone higher will still try to take the credit for your work.

Shift work is ridiculous. 33.33% extra barely makes it worthwhile, but if on day shift, you cannot afford to live or have a mortgage on it.

PhD graduates are expected to work for 25-30k pa salary, never less than a 60-hour week.

Teamwork is idealized but is nonexistent in reality. Employees are encouraged to give anonymous feedback on their peers to management, with lots of interpersonal conflict and international cultures being ignored.

Those who shout loudest fare best in this company.

Not a place for women with families. Management will try their best to get you out by altering shifts at short notice, or trying to relocate internationally again at short notice, and again, maybe dependent on business needs.

Glass ceiling really does exist here.

There is nothing definite about this company. Until it is actually done, do not believe anything.

Advice to Management

Middle management in Ireland, on the whole, require a series of schooling in people skills and anger management classes.

Respect is a two-way street.

There are plenty of employees who are below par and have been there for decades. They should be put out to grass to make way for people who actually want to be there and enjoy working there, who can be innovative and bring extra qualities to the forum.
