Great and interesting projects. Unclear top-level leadership and strategy. Way too many VPs

Pros

There are many interesting, greatest projects. I am lucky and had such along all the long road within Intel. You can migrate or change projects inside the company too.

Cons

The current CEO is good, but top management decisions accumulated too much damage to the company in the past, to the point that it is now difficult to recover.

  1. Acquisitions and sales were odd. For example, Intel bought McAfee for $7.7 billion, then sold 51% for $3.1 billion, and half a year later, McAfee cost noticeably more.
  2. Too many great architects and engineers were lost in the last 10 years.
  3. There are overwhelmingly too many Fellows/VPs and higher, in my opinion. None of my colleagues and friends had even a close guess, even when given the craziest numbers.
Advice to Management

Flatten the structure - org tree. Per my knowledge, such companies as NVidia have smaller org-tree height (less distance from CEO to developer).
