Intel is a large, diverse company that can provide growth opportunities for people with varied career goals. They are very open to letting employees change jobs when it provides growth opportunities.
It is very rewarding to be part of a project that can potentially change the world. Most of the groups I have been on are filled with great, fun-loving individuals.
Like any large corporation, Intel has its share of bureaucracy that is sometimes frustrating to deal with. Also, it is sometimes difficult to remove an underqualified employee once he/she has been at Intel for over a year.
Be more open to working fairly with the industry on standards.
It was over a decade ago, and mine was not a typical hiring process. I had specialized domain knowledge that is rare in India. The hiring manager knew me and sought me out through a headhunter. Hence, it was a simple conversation—not an interview!
Contacted first by a recruiter, followed by a four-hour on-site interview. No phone screen.
Phone screen intelligence test. Boring 10-hour day. A couple of intelligence tests. Confrontation interviews were very stupid.
