Submitted resume and application through Intuit.com.
Was contacted within a few weeks.
Received an email with a time for a brief chat with someone from HR, lasting approximately 15 minutes. This was mostly introductory, covering reasons for wanting to work there and your story. Assuming you were a good fit, you would then move on to:
A one-hour video call scheduled with the candidate and two employees. This call reviewed the resume and included a few technical questions and a relatively trivial coding exercise. These were real-world problems, not trick questions or complex algorithms, and were designed to be completed within 20-30 minutes. This served as a litmus test to verify a basic technical background.
A follow-up email from HR was then expected. This would likely be either a rejection or an offer to come on-site for a face-to-face interview and meet-and-greet.
The face-to-face interview involved meeting several team members and a tour of the facility. Afterward, you would sit down with 3-4 software engineers for a technical grilling. Questions ranged from front-end and server-side concepts to database queries, day-to-day workflow as a developer, and basic Linux knowledge. These were realistic questions, not designed to trick you or require the design of complex algorithms, but rather practical tasks like querying data or implementing business logic to update a DOM, solvable on a whiteboard.
Another wait for a follow-up from HR. For me, this was very quick, occurring within a day or two, resulting in either an offer or a rejection.
Overall, this was a really great, streamlined interview process. They focused on real-world scenarios rather than tricky algorithm questions or "think outside the box" challenges. It was immediately evident that the culture hugely fosters nice individuals.
Given a data set (think a small list of students with first names, grades, etc.), write a query to show the average score for each grade range (think A, B, C, D, F...). This query should also include specific fields and adhere to some other specific criteria.
