Software Engineer Interview Experience - Mountain View, California

Process

I was contacted on a job board by the recruiting team.

Interviews were scheduled pretty fast, and the process seemed to move rapidly.

The first couple of rounds went well, and I was called onsite. I was given a schedule for the onsite interview, etc.

All of a sudden, one day before my onsite, they realized they had more candidates. They wanted to conduct one more round of video interview.

I knew it was to reject me, but I had no other option.

In the interview, the person asked such difficult and irrelevant questions that it already gave me jitters. I was right; this was to filter me out.

Very unethical and unprofessional.

Questions

  1. Phone round: Most common Java and Node.js questions, threads, collections, Java 8, etc.

  2. NDA so cannot tell exact details. BT traversal related and one code review exercise to make the given code production-ready.
