A lot of knowledgeable senior engineers, albeit with high egos. If you get placed onto a good team and a manager with legitimate people skills, you can go pretty far. A lot of entry-level folks come from various backgrounds, which is awesome to see (university, coding bootcamp, etc.).
Very tech debt-y. Being good at corporate politics and getting managers to like you will get you a promotion. Anything that has to do with App Modernization is anything but a lie, as existing applications that Product will ask you to refactor are often tightly coupled.
Many projects I've been assigned could've been completed quicker had they been built from scratch. It's also a common theme in Chase to take other team's successful refactoring work and try to "do what they did" to rush projects.
