Frontend Engineer Interview Experience - Barcelona, Spain

March 1, 2016
Neutral ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process began with brief HR questions, followed by a Skype interview with two developers. They asked general questions about JavaScript, including scope, object-oriented programming, and prototypal inheritance.

Afterward, I was given a coding task: to build a JavaScript application that allowed users to search for and favorite games.

The next interview, again with two engineers, involved reviewing the application I had built and discussing software patterns. As they were Angular developers, it's recommended to be proficient in Angular if applying.

They also provided aesthetic criticism of the application, stating that my design was ugly.

The process concluded with HR contacting me to explain that they were seeking a candidate with more CSS experience, despite my use of BEM rules and a preprocessor.
