This was a very frustrating process. I interviewed twice, having been referred internally on both occasions.
The first time:
The recruiter scheduled an interview and then immediately stated they wouldn’t refer me because I lacked sufficient Python experience (this was listed as a "nice to have" in the job description). I suspect they didn't read my resume before the call.
The second time, with a different recruiter:
They asked for my availability, and I didn't hear back until I prompted them. They then ignored my provided available times and scheduled our interview for 8 AM Eastern.
During the hiring manager screen, I felt both interviewers were engaged in other work. The questions were not particularly difficult, but I didn't feel they truly listened to my answers. In their feedback, one interviewer claimed I was unable to explain "why" and was merely parroting conventional software engineer wisdom. However, I don't recall being asked a single "why" question. I was genuinely shocked by their recollection of the interview. Their feedback was approximately one sentence each, for what it's worth.
