Site Reliability Engineer Interview Experience - Sunnyvale, California

Process

The interview process began with a recruiter phone call featuring simple technical questions. This was followed by two technical phone screens with current SREs.

The onsite stage included four technical modules and one soft skill module, with lunch provided.

The decision took about two weeks after the last interview.

A final round with the manager involved more soft skills and technical descriptions of the job.

Contact with the company was great throughout the entire interview process. Then things unfortunately fell apart.

It seems the company has a process in which they have zero confidence. At the end of the day, everything still comes down to one person's preference – whether they like you or not.

This was a huge waste of time.

Questions

Recruiters will give you a really good idea of what you will encounter along the way. Ask them to elaborate on areas you aren't clear on and take notes. Take your time studying. Talk to your interviewers; they will help you smooth out the rougher patches.
