Process

The interview process began with an introductory call with the recruiter, followed by a phone screen. The virtual on-site interview was split over two days at my request and consisted of:

  • One coding round
  • Two system design rounds
  • One behavioral round

The coding round was relatively easy. You received a prompt and had an hour and 15 minutes to work on it independently.

Questions

Given a list with manager-employee relationships, return lists of direct reports of all managers, and a list of organizations of all second-line or higher managers.

Design a donation system that collects donations for a day. Donation information (amount, credit card details, etc.) is collected through the website and processed asynchronously. Donors should be notified via email after a donation has been processed.

Design Twitter. Design a complete working system first, and then discuss room for improvement (discuss fan-out and feed generation).

The problem was lifted verbatim from https://leetcode.com/problems/time-based-key-value-store/
