I received an email regarding an initial interview almost two months after applying online. This was an initial HR interview concerning the position and my qualifications.
The HR representative asked me what I knew about the position and why I wanted to work there. I provided my reasoning for my interest.
She, somewhat robotically, repeated all the points written in the position description in response. Then she asked about my GPA and when I could start working. She inquired about my Master's thesis, for which I gave her a brief overview.
She then asked which field of work I was more interested in: Embedded, DSP, or Controls. Since I had worked in both Embedded and DSP (and I am actually more involved in image processing), I informed her of this.
She did not ask me any further questions. I asked her a few questions.
She stated that if I matched their requirements, I would receive an email.
I checked their website about an hour later, and it indicated that my profile did not match the current requirements. If the decision was made that quickly, I don't understand why I wasn't informed directly on the phone.
When can you start working?
