Process
Had two interviews!
First: Technical Recruiter
Asked basic questions about time management, projects, and conflicts with team members.
Second: Technical Interview with Senior Engineer
- Basic math: calculus, differential equations, and linear algebra
- Programming concepts: programming constructs, style, and logic
- One programming language: C (recommended), C++, or Java. If C++ is selected, you must understand syntax and structure, compilation, and OOP concepts.
- MATLAB: basic MATLAB syntax, commonly used functions, and documented concepts
- One specific engineering discipline that best fits your background. Options include:
- Control Systems: classical control, modern control, and non-linear systems
- Signals Processing: concepts such as aliasing, convolution, and transforms
- Embedded Systems: Real-Time Operating Systems, Scheduling, and General OS Concepts

Too much micromanagement in EDG

Pros: Modern workplace, with nice facilities including a gym and offices.
Free breakfast on Wednesdays.
Cons: Poor management at EDG. The managers tend to micromanage people and create a kindergarten-like atmosphere. EDG is a ruse for them to get technical support done by highly qualified people, and their values have diverged from the company's core values.
Work/life balance is screwed up since you frequently have to work 12-hour days, and the hard work you put in is not appreciated but rather seen as standard expectations.
None of the managers have technical skills, so they frequently try to evade questions by asking the same questions back to people. "What do you think?" is the most commonly used phrase here, and there is never any logical explanation for anything.

Pros: Great work-life balance.
You get a chance to influence a lot of MATLAB and Simulink users around the world, regardless of job level.
Wednesdays: free breakfasts.
Smart people.
Good work environment; fun.
Yearly summer and winter outings.
Cons: Salary
It's a great company, and you get to influence a lot of users worldwide. I think the average pay should be a bit more.

Pros: Great, intelligent people to work with.
Decent work-life balance (nice to have a gym on campus, etc.).
The company feels "young," which is nice for new graduates.
Cons: - Low pay (we shouldn't have to rely on a stakeholder bonus to get a halfway decent salary)
- Management is in general pretty awful
- Too much emphasis on procedures and bureaucracy
- Difficult to get promoted (not based on merit – my manager even told me I just haven't been here long enough)
