The interview consisted of:
- A HackerRank skills challenge
- A 1:1 with engineers and the engineering manager.
Questions
Given a board, return the orientation of the battleship. Then, return all the coordinates with a battleship, given the size of the ship.
Follow-up: Write a function to randomly place a battleship of size n on the board.

Pros: The work-life balance is usually pretty good, depending on where you work. The people are generally very friendly and knowledgeable.
Cons: There's definitely a difference between being a Data Engineer at Facebook and a Data Engineer at a smaller company. You don't get as much range in what you do, and you're more siloed than you likely were before. It's tough getting used to.

Pros: Smart people who were chosen to be good to work with and empathic of others.
Important work. Huge scope. Solid mentorship.
Enormous self-direction. Continuous opportunity fountain.
Literally the best large company I can imagine working for, and I came from a mid-senior role at Google that wasn't shabby.
Cons: It took a year and a half to learn to play defense on my work-life balance. There's a spectrum of teams, and while some offer fantastic balance, others just don't.
The lesson was that they let you pick your own team, and that's something you can select for.

Not worth the stress

Pros: Free food and good pay.
Cons: Everything seems driven by corporate politics and performance reviews. For some reason, software developers are expected to behave like PMs while also churning out code. It doesn't really matter if the code is good or not; you just have to pump out as much as you can so you have more lines of code written than the rest of your team.
