Production Engineer Interview Experience - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Process

I recently got my degree. The entire process until its end took 4 months.

I got the opportunity through a recruiter who contacted me on LinkedIn on March 3rd. The job opening was for London, Dublin (which I chose), or Tel Aviv.

The first step was a phone screen interview with some basic, straightforward questions (both technical and non-technical).

Two weeks later, I did the first remote technical interview. It was a 45-minute coding interview with two problems to solve. Within two days, they gave me positive feedback, and I proceeded to the second remote technical interview, which focused on systems (Linux, basically).

After two weeks, I had that interview and, on the next day, they told me I succeeded. Then, they finally scheduled the on-site interview, which took place in Buenos Aires (I'm from Brazil) on June 24th, with hotel and other reasonable expenses covered by the company. It consisted of a loop of five interviews:

  • Coding (again)
  • Systems (again)
  • Networking
  • System design
  • Soft skills, with a manager

Unfortunately, on July 4th, they called me to inform me that my performance was not enough on the coding and networking interviews, despite the feedback being "quite positive".

Although I did not get the offer, the entire process was very tidy, and the negative feedback at the end was fair, for the majority.
