Data Engineers are often seen more as support staff for analytics than core engineers. Following the layoffs, Data Engineers are required to support multiple cross-functional teams at once. With no clearly defined niche, concerns about workload and bandwidth are frequently ignored. Team placement matters. Be cautious when choosing a manager—those with limited experience may struggle with the demands of the role, leading to disorganization while maintaining a façade of effectiveness.
