I was referred by a friend who is an employee for various software engineer roles. I also had the option for manager roles, but I declined it.
My first approach was a screening call with HR, which went well. We were both very motivated and excited to proceed with the recruitment process.
I received a voucher for a practice site to review data structures and algorithms, which was nothing too fancy. I was told that I could schedule the professional interviews as I saw fit. Taking my time with a full-time job and family with children, I mostly covered the material on the weekends.
The entire process took about 6 months and involved 6 interviews out of 7. Considering all the conversations, emails, and scheduling availability, the process was very nice as long as it was their interest to hire me.
I received a 100% mark on 5 interviews. For the 6th interview, I received a low mark, and I have no idea why. I tried to get information about it, but received nothing. I refused to take the 7th interview before I got the 6th interview right. It was important for me to pass the process with great marks.
At this point, communication stopped. I sent a couple of emails to HR, but received no replies. I waited. Two months after my last email, in which I asked for another chance at the 6th interview and reiterated that I did not want to proceed before completing every step with high marks, I logged back into the careers page.
I saw that all the positions I had been interviewing for were gone. It was exactly then that, all of a sudden, the company seemed to be heading in a bad direction. Little did I know, and to my surprise, my process with the company ended with no notice. Nothing!
I wouldn't recommend this experience to anyone. They took 6 months of my life and my family's life just to vanish into the dark with no explanation. It left a bad taste in my mouth, and I felt so embarrassed that I didn't trust my instincts sooner. I decided to give the company a chance to respond and proceed with the recruitment process. Needless to say, during these 6 months, I declined other offers from large tech and cyber companies because I was pursuing the dream of becoming part of the community of a company I admired.
Regular data structures and algorithms questions, mostly arrays, stacks, and queues.
