A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn.

I requested an in-person interview in place of a telephonic one. We arranged a one-hour interview at the Menlo Park office.

I cleared that interview and was called for a six-round interview.

The interview was strange.

There were easy and not-so-complex algorithmic rounds. I'm not sure what was special about them or if they were even part of the decision-making. The interviewers seemed happy with my answers, and there weren't many corrections.

Then there were the design rounds. One round was about designing location services. The interviewer was very knowledgeable and pointed out inefficiencies in my choice of data structures. I enjoyed that.

Then started the real fun in the final round. An awesome interviewer with an awesome attitude. He unfortunately spoiled my interview experience, though. He asked me to design a messaging app system. Once an interviewer breaks your comfort zone, it's a difficult place to be. His expressions were horrible, and at times I felt like saying, "Shut up and listen first," which I obviously didn't.

When I mentioned that the server only knows the client's IP address when it receives a packet from the client, he stated there are many other ways it happens. I maintained that the only way is via the client's packet to the server. He made it an argument, and finally, I had to ask him to mention a way. He skipped the part and asked me to move on :-D

Ignoring the final round, I actually enjoyed the interview process. No offer, though :-)
