I had asked my friend for a referral. Within a week, I was contacted by a recruiter and asked for dates for a telephonic screen. I provided my date preference, and within two days, the phone screen was scheduled. I received the results of the phone screen the next day and was invited to Facebook HQ for a day-long interview.
Facebook has "University Day," where they call candidates and conduct interviews. On the same day, they also offer a campus tour with a tech talk. However, as I had another offer deadline, they were very accommodating in scheduling a "one-off" interview for me. I was called on a non-University Day specifically for the interviews.
The interview process was awesome. I had a total of four rounds: one behavioral and three technical.
After the first round, I was accompanied by a Facebook engineer for lunch, and he walked me around the campus. I loved the campus and the interaction with the engineer. He answered almost all my questions and further gave me reasons why working at Facebook was awesome.
Post-lunch, I had three back-to-back technical interviews. All the interviewers were smart. They provided enough information about the problems and also left grey areas for me to ask and figure out. For all the questions, implementation was expected. Most of the time during my interviews, I was standing and writing or discussing code on the whiteboard. Overall, the day was hectic, but it was indeed great fun as I got pretty interesting problems to solve and discuss.
After the interviews, I got my result after a week.
Summary: Fast and fair process. Great experience.
I had never heard of any of the questions I was asked in all four rounds of interviews. Pretty much all the problems required me to think on the fly.
