Process

It all started with an email. I applied online, but they noticed me through the recommendation of someone who already works at Facebook.

A week before the online interview, the recruiter called me via Skype and explained the process.

The interview was held through Skype (no camera), and I coded using Codepad.io.

Questions

They asked me to create a recursive function for a powerset.

For example: powerset(a, b, c) = ((), (a), (b), (c), (a, b), (a, c), (b, c), (a, b, c))

Pros: You get to meet a lot of really smart people. Also, there are a lot of benefits, and there's more coming.

Cons: The company is growing really big, really fast. If you aren't in product teams, it's hard to get much love, and as the size increases, this is more apparent. It's not a small company anymore, and over the time I was here, I have seen the startup culture slowly mature.

Cons: The company is growing really big, really fast. If you aren't in product teams, it's hard to get much love, and as the size increases, this is more apparent. It's not a small company anymore, and over the time I was here, I have seen the startup culture slowly mature.

Pros: - Moves very, very fast. Individual teams are empowered to ship at-will. - Very open and transparent. Very few company "secrets". Everyone is up-to-date on what everyone else is doing. This leads to almost non-existent company politics. - Great co-workers. Nearly everyone is among the best at what they do, so there is a huge amount of trust across orgs.

Cons: Moving really fast sometimes leads to false starts. Engineers must be prepared to pivot and change course from time to time.
