Software Engineer (Internship) Interview Experience - Chile

January 7, 2019

Positive ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Two rounds via the BlueJeans app involved a coding challenge, which I solved using Python. The call quality was good, but communication was occasionally cumbersome as the interviewer was not a native English speaker, and neither am I.

Questions

Given a string of alphanumerical and parentheses characters, balance the parentheses so that the amount of open parentheses matches the closed ones.

Not the good Facebook anymore

Engineering Manager • Current Employee

Pros: Move fast, good benefits, that's it.

Cons: Terrible WLB, especially mentally stressful. Lots of politics. Bad leadership, licking up and kicking down. No long-term strategy; move fast in micro, but when you zoom out, it's running in a circle. Extremely metric-driven, with no care about user problems or strategy. This translated into growth and low-quality work with no long-term vision.
