Pros

An incredibly different working environment and an opportunity to be a developer of hardware that only gets consumed internally and is not sold to customers. This gives a great perspective and opportunity for end-to-end design, development, and delivery of hardware technology. The DCs will see your work, and you can get details and links to early design decisions impacting hardware performance.

Cons

If you're coming from a proper hardware engineering organization, then the lack of conformance to following a predictable development process may be unnerving.

Advice to Management

Needs better thought leadership for how to solve the classic debate between hardware performance issues (limitations) and application/code/software inefficiencies or lack of maturity as to why the overall quality issues that people have to solve once something is deployed.
