A highly political environment, as everyone is terrified of getting PIPed. Lots of infighting and turf grabbing among engineers. People are rushing deliverables, meaning code quality gets left behind.
People get a job at Meta because they are talented engineers.
Forcing a 20% below expectation rate makes no sense when most employees are performant.
Ultimately, it will tarnish the brand in the long run and make it harder to recruit top talent.
