Pros

They pay well and let me work fully remote. At first, I got to do some interesting technical work. There are a lot of really smart people there from special effects and games because Meta pays much better than those industries.

Cons

When the "year of efficiency" started, everything went to hell. All the teams were rearranged, good people were sacked, and most of the interesting technical work disappeared. Leadership is immature. The only tool they use is sacking people and reorganizing. The typical cycle is 2 months of planning, engineers work their butts off for a while, teams reorganize and throw out all the work they just did, and the cycle starts over.

Advice to Management

Reward evolving your ecosystem rather than replacing it. Microsoft and Apple know how to do this. Learn from them and raise the quality bar for your software rather than rushing half-baked crap out the door.
