Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

A very standardized process involving:

  • An initial call with someone unfamiliar with the position, who asks numerous questions and assigns a "brain teaser" exercise within 30 minutes.
  • A subsequent call to learn about Microsoft.
  • Five consecutive interviews (in-person or online during COVID) where basic but detailed undergraduate-level questions are asked, even for Master's or PhD candidates.

The manager does not appear to listen (confirmed by two other interviewees).

Questions

  • Bayes' theorem
  • Binary search
  • How to apply GANs in medical images (while the interviewer does not listen to you)
  • Multiply a bunch of numbers
  • What is the heap?
  • What's the limit of the Python stack?
  • Name the most famous algorithm in Deep Learning
  • How many lines of code have you written at most for a project? (-.-)
  • Do you know unit testing?
  • What's the last paper you read?
