I applied to Microsoft Australia. The recruiter reached out to me for a technical screen phone call to start the process. She mentioned there would be five rounds of technical interviews, but there were actually four.
Each round included approximately 15 minutes of mixed general technical and behavioral questions, followed by 30 minutes of coding. These coding questions were generally medium to hard LeetCode level. Afterwards, the coding questions were extended to system design questions, which could last another 15 minutes.
The interviewers were very knowledgeable and engaging, and could spend over an hour discussing solutions and questions with interviewees. These discussions were quite enjoyable!
As the interviewers were located around the world, interviews were conducted either early or late AEST. I declined the ones scheduled for midnight. Overall, it was a very enjoyable process.
The drawback is that the interview process took a very long time, over 9 weeks, followed by an additional four weeks for the background check. However, I did enjoy some time off between jobs.
I feel like there's no point in sharing the actual questions and being prepared for LeetCode-type questions, medium to hard level.
The thinking process is more important than making sure the code is bug-free; however, it's better to prepare test cases and get the code working.
My question types were: intervals, arrays, maps, and multi-thread handling. Hope those help.
