Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) Interview Experience - Seattle, Washington

Process

I had my first screen scheduled on campus. It had a few questions, such as how you would test a calculator, write code to test addition, and what steps you would take to ensure completeness when you have only two days to test something and have made a new fix.

My next round was an onsite interview. You will meet with a recruiter on the day of the interview; she will handle your schedule for the day.

Questions

1st round: Write integertoasciiconversion(char *s, int n). Here, the discussion was on who would allocate memory pointed to by s. If it was the user, what would be the advantage?

2nd round: Test wireless mouse. Given two strings, remove the occurrences of characters in one string from another.

3rd round: Lunch interview. Discussion of my resume, interested projects, two more coding questions. Sub-sum of numbers in an array.

4th round: Given two rectangles, find the intersection. Here, the discussion was about choosing structures and design.

5th round: HR with manager. Justify why SDET (this is where I screwed up and got declined). One puzzle about an LED.
