Pros: Nice company culture; nice & smart colleagues; work-life balance.

Cons: Not so exciting product. There is some potential politics you should be very careful about. People have to learn how to show themselves. Performance reviews will replace some people every year, this is for sure, especially for the Mountain View branch. I heard about several cases where a manager has finally "walked out" people from the workplace. So, please keep on checking in your code changelist, keep on raising your voice in email threads. Also, please do not make even a little mistake, which will be written into the performance review.

Pros: Great benefits for internship (housing, rental car). Great WLB - 7-hour days, rare late meetings. Lot of ownership placed on intern.

Cons: Low responsibility - interns are not expected to do much. Team was not that close-knit.

Pros: Management has thus far shown commitment. Heavily invested in technical infrastructure. TC got boosted. Work is not as stressful as other companies.

Cons: Upper management is heavy ex-Intel, all over the stack. That itself may not be a bad thing. However, it seems nepotism is at play. People non-Intel are getting sidelined at upper management, as observed from the bottom. Long-time Microsoft employees are leaving in mass for one reason or another. New hires are not the cream of the crop, so only time will tell. Need to play some level of politics even at IC level to grow. This might be the case in other similarly sized companies, so take with a grain of salt. TC is still lower than other top industries.
