Process

Got a call for an interview via a campus fair. Had an on-campus interview of about 30 minutes. It was more of background information and passion questions, plus one technical question (how do you find a substring in a string).

Had three interviews in the on-site round.

First, the interviewer asked about a design question that needed a hash table. Then, they asked me to code on a whiteboard, in which I made a few mistakes.

Second, the interviewer asked to code the strstr() function.

Last, the interviewer asked to solve the problem: One array has size n and n elements. A second array has size n+m and m elements. Both arrays are sorted. We need to get n+m elements in the second array in sorted order. A linear time algorithm was expected.
