Software Development Engineer Interview Experience - Redmond, Washington

Process

The phone interview was quite simple. I was asked to use a shared document. I was asked to implement atoi and itoa in C, without using the STL. Then, a few other easy questions were asked.

The onsite interview involved meeting with three people.

One interviewer asked a high school math problem: Given a billiard ball's coordinates and the hit angle, compute the location of the next contact with the wall. This interviewer also asked a few behavioral questions.

Another interviewer asked a question about polynomial arithmetic, likely addition/subtraction. I don't remember if multiplication was involved.

The last interviewer asked a question about binary trees: Given inorder and preorder traversals, output the postorder traversal.

Questions
