Process

I received an email requesting an interview at the University. The interviewer asked questions about my experience, a coding question involving multiple threads, and some general algorithms questions. After clearance, a recruiter contacted me to schedule on-site interviews in Redmond.

At the campus, the day started with a chat with HR, followed by a total of 6 technical rounds (including one lunch technical round) from different teams in the Core OS group. The questions asked were generally about core OS concepts (multithreading, deadlocks, concurrency), algorithms (simple ones with complete coding), and some on work experience.

Overall, the experience was nice, and the interviewers were very friendly. Two days later, I received a rejection email. The reason for my rejection, according to me, was my substandard implementation of a stack using an array, compounded by my miserable performance in the last round. I felt that the interviewers might exchange feedback about a candidate's possible weaknesses, and the next interviewer would look to confirm them, raising red flags if confirmed.
