I had an on-campus interview with a very friendly manager. He started asking some standard algorithm questions, which I answered right away, so he gave me a hard question on concurrency, which I had barely heard of. He explained what concurrency etc. meant, and I struggled a lot to finally solve it. I expressed interest in joining Microsoft Research instead, so he promised to check if I could interview with them afterwards.
A month later, I had an on-site interview in Seattle with three interviewers, again for a junior software engineer role. They asked really easy questions about int arrays and trees, and I wrote code on whiteboards. I chatted with each of them to learn a bit about their work. Some projects were rather surprising. It was an overall pleasant experience (the hotel was great too!), even though I did not get an offer in the end.
