Software Development Engineer Interview Experience - Seattle, Washington

Process

I applied on the college job board and received an email from the recruiter a couple of days later regarding several positions. I then signed up for an interview time for the following week.

During the on-campus interview, I discussed my prior experience and internships, my interest in Microsoft, and my aspirations to change the world.

Halfway through the 30-minute interview, the interviewer posed a coding question. Unfortunately, I struggled with it, writing meaningless loops for a recursion problem.

Overall, I felt the interview involved a difficult question and a challenging, seemingly apathetic interviewer. He began checking his phone as I wrote on the whiteboard, clearly focused on completing interviews on time to avoid being late for subsequent ones.

Questions

Given a 2D array with increasing integers, find a way to traverse clockwise and print the outside of the matrix first, and then the second layer, until the center values.
