Process

It was a very straightforward technical interview; no behavioral questions were asked at all. My interviewer was an SDE II from the Windows Phone 8 team.

This interview started with several administrative questions, such as:

  • Your graduation date
  • Whether you have any pending offers right now
  • Which area do you want to work in at Microsoft (OS, application, cloud, etc.)
  • Which product are you most interested in working on
  • Which programming language are you most comfortable with

Then, we moved on to the technical part, where the interviewer tested my knowledge on the following (as far as I remembered):

  • What is quick-sort and its complexity
  • Polymorphism and how to implement it
  • What is a memory leak and does Java allow memory leaks?
  • What is garbage collection and how does it work?
