I applied to college and was set up for a 30-minute on-campus interview. It was a one-on-one interview. I was asked to talk about a database project. I was given a pen and some scratch paper to detail it, and the interviewer asked me some basic SQL questions.

There are lots of smart people working at Microsoft, and everyone is willing to help.
Cons: Boring work if you are far down the chain. Only Microsoft Research gets to work on the interesting projects; most other people work on maintaining what is already there.
