I spoke with a software engineer at my university's career fair. I was invited to a 30-minute interview on campus, where we reviewed my resume and a coding question of average difficulty. I received a final round invitation within a week.
The final round was at Redmond HQ. It included breakfast, a 45-minute interview, a 15-minute break, and this format was repeated four times. Each interview was roughly half resume and behavioral questions, and half coding. The first three rounds were relatively easy, and the interviewers were very friendly. However, the final interview was very hard, and the interviewer was very unfriendly. To conclude, we were invited to lunch in the massive employee cafeteria. I received an offer within a week.
Communication was confusing and vague. Each step of the process was handled by a different recruiter, and several emails were never replied to, including when errors were made with my travel itinerary. In total, I believe the process involved 4-5 recruiters.
Mixture of behavioral and technical questions
