Process

First, there were three Codility questions as a home assignment. This was followed by two online interviews, each with two interviewers, where you were required to write code online in Codility. The process itself was very professional.

Questions

Home Assignment:

  1. Find what's wrong with the code (if statement with =).
  2. Return the largest letter from a string that occurs twice, once as a lowercase letter and once as an uppercase letter ('AaBabc' should return B).
  3. Given a matrix of strings representing a checkers board, return the maximum steps white can take.

Online Interviews:

  1. Maximum number of overlapping intervals (need to do it in O(n log n) time).
  2. Check for balanced brackets in an expression (using a stack).
  3. Figure out a way to flatten a binary tree to a file, then read it in a different app, and write the method to reconstruct the tree.
  4. How would you implement a calculator (need to use some kind of composite pattern, with a stack to hold some math logic and IOperator).
