The scheduling was very bad. I had to email back and forth with more than two people and received the result from a third.
I went for a full-day interview, and it wasn't the typical or best series of interviews I've experienced. From 10 am to 5 pm, I had five technical interviews, all coding challenges.
The first interview was a design question with a project manager. He was understanding and open to explanations.
The second one was sort of strange. The question was very abstract, and my interviewer didn't help at all while I asked a few questions. They didn't even make any facial expressions or ask me a single question to clarify what I did.
The third interview felt like dealing with a bored or annoyed teenager. I designed what they asked for, then was told to expand it. I expanded the solution and was then asked again to expand it more and more and more. It felt like the interviewer didn't have more questions and was pushing through just to kill an hour.
The fourth interview was with a hacker. They asked me to solve a string manipulation problem. I did it in two minutes, then they left the question and started talking about encryption and decryption. I was asked things I wouldn't expect at all from someone with one year of experience. All I can say is that it was ridiculous.
The fifth interview was with a manager who has worked for 27 years at Microsoft. He asked me about string manipulation again. I didn't solve it efficiently and was so tired, since it was my fifth interview, for goodness sake!
I received a call four days later saying, "We've decided to move forward with someone else."
Three design questions. Two string manipulation problems.
